Can I try Abbeyfield Chester first?

Yes, of course! We welcome prospective residents an opportunity to ‘try us out’. This will enable them to experience life with us and to meet staff, residents and volunteers prior to making a final decision. For serious enquiries, we will offer new potential residents to stay with us for a few nights, free of charge.

Can I make my room, my own?

Yes, residents are welcome to furnish their own rooms in their own style and to put up photographs, and paintings on the wall to give it a personal touch. After-all, you’ll be living here so let’s help make it ‘yours’.

FAQs

Are all bills included?

Yes, within the monthly agreement, all services (which includes all utility bills - Gas, electricity, water & TV license, Council tax & Wi-fi) are all inclusive.

What age group do you accept?

Although we try to think of age as just a number, we only really accept the over 60s.

Do you accept pets?

As much as we would love to accept pets, it isn’t fair for other residents who have allergies / fears. We therefore do not accept any pets.

What meals are not included?

The only meal we do not cover is breakfast. This can be made at your preferred time within your room, with your kitchenette.

What are the local amenities?

Close by is a Co-Operative convenience store with ATM, petrol station, butchers, greengrocer, cafe, hairdresser, chemist, and Handbridge Medical Centre. Not to mention, we have three pubs nearby, and the beautiful city of Chester being just a 15 minute walk away.

What are the types of events and day trips?

We hold quizzes, BBQ’s, afternoon tea’s, birthday parties, iPad facetime sessions and games nights. We have Monday coffee mornings, and our infamous ‘Sherry Sunday’ where our residents enjoy a tipple and a natter. We regularly organise day trips and events all year round, such as canal trips in North Wales, a yearly garden party for residents and their families & days out to the local garden centre and cafes. We have a visiting hairdresser once a week, too.

Can my family & friends visit?

Yes, absolutely. We welcome friends and family, and believe seeing loved ones is a great way to keep the mind active and engaged. Residents also have their own button entry and intercom system.

Do you have parking?

We have a small car park, suitable for residents and visitors.

What safety measures do you have in place?

All our residents are given a personal alarm incase of emergencies (which is inclusive of the monthly free), we have a button entry system to get into the building, and an intercom doorbell directs to each room. Staff are present between 09:00am - 18:00pm week days, and 09:00am - 14:00pm on weekends; and all visitors will sign in / out upon arrival and departure.

Sample Menu - Abbeyfield Chester

All our meat is sourced from our local award winning butcher, and is purchased daily. We also have fresh vegetables delivered. Our meals are made fresh daily, and they are accompanied with either vegetables or salad. Residents enjoy a two course meal at lunch (a main and dessert) and can opt for a lighter option should they not feel as hungry. Dinner is served in the dining room five nights per week, and the following two nights are left as a time to see relatives or friends, therefore we serve lighter boxed meals which are perfect for residents to enjoy in their respective rooms. Breakfasts are not included, and residents are encouraged to make what they please, at their own leisure.
